One killed in Kailali road accident; ward chairman taken into custody

Dhangadhi: A road accident in Kailali has claimed one life and left several others injured.

The collision occurred on the Postal Highway in Kailari Rural Municipality-1 when a Mahindra Corex vehicle (Bhe 1 Cha 4275) and a motorcycle (Se 5 Pa 2782) traveling from opposite directions crashed into each other.

The motorcycle rider, 35-year-old Ipsa Chaudhary of Kailari Rural Municipality-5, sustained serious injuries in the accident. She was rushed to Navajivan Hospital in Dhangadhi, where doctors declared her dead after examination.

A passenger in the vehicle, 50-year-old Tara Chaudhary of Kailari-7, was injured in the incident. Two other individuals received general treatment and have since been discharged.

Police have taken the driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Dipendra Bam of Kailari-7, into custody. Bam serves as the ward chairman of Kailari-7. Authorities stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
