Main accused in police constable’s murder arrested in Darchula
Dhangadhi: Ashish Pal, the main accused in the murder of Police Constable Yogendra Gharti, has been arrested in Mahakali Municipality-4 of Darchula.
A team from the District Police Office apprehended Pal from Hikila in Duhu Rural Municipality on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Provincial Police Office, Dhangadhi.
Provincial Police Office spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Padam Bahadur Bista confirmed that Pal was arrested from Hikila. Constable Gharti was killed at the Asmita Beer Bar operated by Pal in Bangabagar, Mahakali Municipality-4.
According to police, investigations have revealed that Pal beat Gharti to death on the allegation that he had teased his wife Deepika.
Earlier, Darchula police had arrested Pal’s younger wife, Deepika Pal, 21-year-old Payal Luhar, Surendra Bam, and Rajendra Dadal on charges of involvement in the incident.
Police said they are continuing the search for Pal’s elder wife, Laxmi Badu, and his brother, Manish Pal, who remain absconding.
Constable Gharti was cremated in the Mahakali River on Wednesday.
