Seven Involved in Darchula policeman murder, three arrested

Dhangadhi: Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of Police Constable Yogendra Gharti in Mahakali Municipality-4, Darchula, while four others remain at large.

The arrested include 20-year-old Deepika Pal, 21-year-old Payal Luhar, and Surendra Bam, all residents of Mahakali Municipality-4, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Padam Bahadur Bista, spokesperson of the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office, Dhangadhi.

The four absconding suspects are Ashik Pal, owner of Asmita Beer Bar, his elder wife Laxmi Badu, his brother Manish Pal, and Rajendra Dadal, who assisted in managing the body. Police identified Deepika Pal as the younger wife of Ashik Pal.

Initial investigations reveal that Constable Gharti was beaten by Ashik Pal at the beer bar after allegedly teasing Deepika Pal. The arrested suspects stated that Ashik and his brother were responsible for beating and killing Gharti; verification tests are currently underway. Police confirmed that Gharti sustained a head injury from a sharp weapon.

Authorities continue to search for the absconding suspects, and the Provincial Police Office has stated that further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
