PM Karki says second-phase polls possible in himalayan districts if weather disrupts voting
Nawalparasi: Prime Minister Karki has stated that the government will provide all necessary support to ensure the conduct of elections and that a second phase of polling may be considered in Himalayan districts if weather conditions are unfavorable. He made the remarks while speaking to media persons after attending the training completion program of the National Service Party held at Hattikhor, Kawasoti Municipality-1, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Sustapur).
The Prime Minister said that elections would be conducted even in areas with a small number of voters, including by arranging transportation to bring voters to polling centers if required. He added that holding elections in a second phase would be considered only in the event of an extremely difficult situation. He urged all stakeholders to participate confidently in the elections scheduled for Falgun 21, noting that there has been no discussion so far about postponing the polls for any reason.
Prime Minister Karki expressed confidence that the representatives elected through timely elections would assume state responsibilities and lead the country in a new direction.
He further stated that the government is making full efforts to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful and fear-free environment.
The Prime Minister also noted that as the elections are being held under special circumstances, certain challenges will be addressed to ensure the successful conduct of the polls.
