Rising demand for digital marketing education among youth in Far-west

Dhangadhi: Amit BC, a digital marketing professional attending a skill and job fair in Dhangadhi, Kailali, has been working in the field for two years. Currently earning Rs 30,000 per month, he aims to increase his income to Rs 60,000 in the near future.

Amit shared that he came to learn the latest digital marketing technologies after Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City began providing training in this field. “Digital marketing is crucial for the current generation. It has significant potential for the future. It should also be taught in schools. AI education should be included,” he said.

The skill and job fair organized by the Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City is providing digital marketing training to 26 participants, mostly young people under the age of 30. Participants emphasized the importance of introducing digital marketing education at the school level, citing the growing need for such skills in the global market. Amit added, “I plan to start an online business and aim to earn Rs 60,000 after receiving the certificate.”

Digital marketing has grown rapidly due to platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, enabling youth to engage in business even alongside daytime office jobs. Meen Bogati, chief trainer of the fair, highlighted the opportunities, stating, “Digital marketing has huge potential. Coding is not required—just skills. Youth in the Far West are increasingly interested. Work can be done from home; just two hours a day is enough. You can run your own business or support others’ businesses.”

With the expansion of global technology, digital marketing has become a highly attractive skill for young people. Bogati noted that if such training is introduced at the school level, it could become a major avenue for employment generation. “Google has not yet expanded widely in Nepal, but interest in social media is growing. You don’t need a shop or a shutter; work can be done from a single room,” he added.
