Darchula: Ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, the District Election Office has established two temporary polling stations in Darchula to facilitate voting for residents of Chhangru and Tinkar villages of Beas Rural Municipality-1.

Chief Election Officer Bhuwan Giri stated that many voters from Chhangru and Tinkar, located under Lipulekh, are currently residing in Khalanga, the district headquarters, due to geographical remoteness and harsh weather conditions. To ensure easy access to voting, temporary polling stations have been set up at Kailashpati Basic School for Chhangru voters and Moti Mahila Sangh Basic School for Tinkar voters.

According to the Election Office, 375 voters are registered at Kailashpati Basic School and 244 at Moti Mahila Sangh Basic School. In the 2079 BS election, Chhangru had 383 voters and Tinkar had 234. Local level elections have also previously been conducted in these areas.

The establishment of the temporary polling centers follows a demand from local residents, who moved to the district headquarters in Mangsir, to have polling facilities in Khalanga. Chief Election Officer Giri said that the move is expected to increase voter participation.

Across Darchula district, 112 polling stations have been designated for the House of Representatives election, with 15 classified as highly sensitive, 32 as sensitive, and 65 as normal, according to Chief District Officer Anil Poudel.

This election will see a total of 92,948 voters in Darchula, including 47,755 male and 45,193 female voters. The Election Office has intensified preparations to ensure that the election is conducted in an orderly, fair, and peaceful manner.
