Far west sees surplus of election police applicants, shortfall persists in several hill districts
Dhangadhi: Applications for election police in the Far West Province have surpassed the overall requirement, with 16,193 people applying against a demand for 13,669 personnel as of Thursday.
Despite the surplus at the provincial level, several hilly districts have failed to meet the required number of applicants. According to information released by the District Police Offices, Achham, Doti, Bajhang, Dadeldhura and Baitadi have received fewer applications than needed. A total of 176 applicants have registered in Achham, 90 in Doti, 38 in Bajhang, 137 in Dadeldhura and 259 in Baitadi.
The demand for election police in these districts stands at 1,463 in Achham, 1,400 in Doti, 1,484 in Bajhang, 944 in Dadeldhura and 1,279 in Baitadi.
In contrast, applications in the Terai districts have exceeded expectations. Kailali received 5,151 applications against a demand of 3,576, while Kanchanpur recorded 2,906 applications for 2,356 required posts.
Similarly, in the hilly districts of Bajura and Darchula, the number of applicants has also surpassed the demand, according to the Provincial Police Office.
