Former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand’s son Bhupen Chand enters parliamentary race from Baitadi
Dhangadhi: Bhupen Chand, son of former Prime Minister and writer Lokendra Bahadur Chand, is set to contest the upcoming House of Representatives elections from Baitadi district. He has formally announced his candidacy from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and launched his election campaign. Bhupen Chand, who is also active in the Nepali film industry as an actor, has been intensifying public outreach and interactions in the district. As part of this engagement, he was welcomed by social workers and various distinguished personalities at a program organized on Monday at the secretariat premises of Baitadi Society, Kailali, in Dhangadhi. The society extended its best wishes to Chand for the forthcoming elections. Speakers at the program highlighted Baitadi’s rich natural beauty, historical and cultural heritage, recalling that it is the birthplace of brave martyr Dashrath Chand and the home district of former Prime Minister and senior writer Lokendra Bahadur Chand, known for his clean image. They discussed the district’s proud history while also expressing concern that Baitadi remains among the country’s 10 poorest districts, with two of its local levels also listed among the poorest. The participants emphasized the need for capable, honest and visionary leadership to uplift the district from this condition. Addressing the gathering, Bhupen Chand said that his responsibility toward the overall development and prosperity of Baitadi has grown stronger. He expressed his commitment to earning the trust of the people and stated that he would continue working to remove the district from the poverty list and transform it into a center of opportunity and potential.
