Dhangadhi: Integrated check posts are being constructed at two border points in the Far West Province. The Far West Province government is building the facilities at Trinagar (Gauriphanta) in Kailali and Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur with the aim of making the check-in process more systematic.

The under-construction integrated check posts were monitored on Wednesday by Far West Province Minister for Economic Affairs Bahadur Singh Thapa, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Surendra Pal and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hira Singh Sarki.

Minister Thapa said that the integrated check posts are being built to address problems observed in the existing check-in process. “Many problems have been seen at the entry points with India while Indian tourists are moving or Nepalis are also going towards India,” he said, adding that these issues have arisen due to the lack of a systematic check-in mechanism.

He said that work is underway to construct integrated check posts to streamline the check-in process and that the budget for the project was allocated after discussion in the Council of Ministers. Minister Thapa stated that once the integrated check posts are completed in Trinagar and Gaddachauki, it will become easier for ordinary citizens as well as tourists arriving from India.

He further said that efforts are being made to establish a systematic check-in system to resolve the various problems seen at border entry points. Screening machines similar to those used at airports are also planned to be installed at the check posts to screen goods and people.
