Baitadi farmers raising bullocks to receive Rs 5,000 incentive
Baitadi: A program has been launched in Baitadi to provide direct financial relief to farmers raising bullocks, aiming to preserve the traditional farming system. Under this initiative, farmers from Shivnath, Pancheshwor, Sigas, and Dilashaini rural municipalities will receive incentive payments.
Gumani Dutta Pant, Head of the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, stated that a total of 200 farmers—50 from each municipality—will be provided Rs 5,000 per farmer.
Farmers interested in participating must apply to the animal service branch of their respective municipality by the specified deadline. Applicants will need to submit a photograph, a recommendation from their ward, and details of their traditional farming practices as proof of raising bullocks.
Pant added that priority will be given to low-income farmers, those from remote areas, and individuals who earn their livelihood primarily from bullocks. The provincial Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives has allocated a budget for this scheme across all districts in the Far West.
The program is expected to both preserve traditional farming systems and improve the income levels of farmers.
