Dhangadhi: The construction of a 10-bed hospital building in the remote hilly region of Mohanyal Rural Municipality has been delayed due to a lack of budget.

According to Municipality Chairman Devidatta Upadhyay, the building remains incomplete as the federal government has not provided sufficient funds in the current fiscal year. He said that the construction company is yet to receive Rs. 3.5 million in payment, and the physical progress of the building has reached only 70 percent.

As there is currently no hospital in the municipality, local residents are compelled to travel to Lamki, Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj for general medical treatment. The construction of the hospital had begun under the government’s program to establish a 10-bed hospital in each municipality.

Similarly, construction of the 50-bed community hospital building in Chuha, Lamkichuha Municipality-10 of the district has also come to a standstill. The work was stopped after the construction company did not receive payment. Locals have expressed concern that the concerned bodies have not taken any initiative to resume the work that has been halted for the past two years.
