Gurukhola Lions clinch Udaydev-Patan premier league title for second consecutive year

Baitadi: Koinoda Gurukhola Lions have won the fifth edition of the Udaydev-Patan Premier League held in Patan, Baitadi, claiming the championship title for the second consecutive year.

Gurukhola secured the title by defeating Himchuli Yuva Sadan by seven wickets in the final match held on Saturday. Along with the title, Gurukhola received Rs 1,35,791 in prize money, while runners-up Himchuli earned Rs 56,789.

Chasing a target of 110 runs, Gurukhola reached victory in 9.1 overs, losing only three wickets. Gajendra Bohara top-scored with 43 runs, while Himchuli’s Paras Bista took two wickets.

Batting first at the Shri Krishna Sports Ground in Patan, Himchuli were bowled out for 109 runs in 17.5 overs. Hrishikesh Bohara was the top scorer with 17 runs. Gurukhola’s Kailash Air, who took four wickets, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

Hrishikesh Bohara of Himchuli, who scored 110 runs and took seven wickets throughout the tournament, was named Player of the Series. Abhishek Pal of Banarasi Cricket Team was recognized as Best Batsman for scoring 184 runs, while Gurukhola’s Ram Chand, who took seven wickets, received the Best Bowler award.

Sameer Bhandari of Patan Ekta Samaj 'Kh' was declared Emerging Player of the tournament.

The winners were honored by Patan Ekta Samaj President Kiran Chand, Patan Municipality Mayor Gauri Singh Rawal, Deputy Mayor Kamal Bohra, Baitadi District Cricket Association President Binod Bahadur Chand, and other dignitaries. A total of 13 teams participated in the competition, which began on 25th Asoj.
