Bus driver who hit police officer in Doti arrested

Doti: Police have arrested a bus driver involved in the hit-and-run incident that killed a police constable in Doti.

The District Police Office, Doti, confirmed that the driver who struck Police Constable Shankar Balayar in Shikhar Municipality and fled the scene was arrested on Monday. Constable Balayar, a resident of Tiltali in Shikhar Municipality-8 and currently serving at the District Traffic Police Office, Rautahat, was found dead around 12:15 am on Asoj 5.

Police investigation revealed that Balayar died after being hit by a bus late at night. The driver had absconded with the vehicle following the incident. Chief Superintendent of Police Mahendra Nepal of the District Police Office, Doti, stated that the identity of the arrested driver will be made public within a few days. According to police, the suspect has confessed to the crime.
