116 escaped prisoners from Kanchanpur jail still unaccounted for

Kanchanpur: A total of 116 prisoners who escaped from Kanchanpur Prison during the Genji protest have yet to be contacted.

According to the prison administration, 116 out of 478 prisoners who fled on Bhadra 24 remain out of contact. The District Administration Office, Kanchanpur, and the Prison Office had issued a notice setting a deadline of 5 p.m. today for the escaped prisoners and detainees to return voluntarily.

Ramdutt Joshi, Acting Prison Administrator of the Kanchanpur Prison Office, said that legal action will be taken against those who fail to return within the given time frame under the Prison Act 2079 BS and other prevailing laws.

He further warned that anyone found hiding, concealing, or sheltering the escaped prisoners or detainees will also be prosecuted according to the law.
