Bus driver arrested following accident in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: Police have arrested the driver of a passenger bus that crashed while traveling from Dhangadhi to Pokhara on Saturday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Kailali, 35-year-old driver Suresh Pariyar of bus (Ga 2 Kha 1907) was taken into custody after the accident occurred at Boradandi, Dhangadhi. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Singh confirmed the arrest and said that 18 of the injured passengers have been discharged after receiving general treatment.

Meanwhile, Ganesh Shahi, 60, a pedestrian from Boradandi, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-4, who was injured in the accident, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Police further informed that Biplav Pokharel, 32, of Punarbas Municipality-6, who sustained serious injuries, has been sent to India for advanced treatment. The co-driver and three other injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Dhangadhi.

Preliminary police investigations suggest that the accident occurred when the bus lost control while attempting to avoid a scooter on the road. The District Police Office, Kailali, has stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
