Baby crocodile rescued in Tikapur, released into Patharaiya river
Dhangadhi: A baby crocodile trapped in a small canal in Tikapur Municipality-9, Kailali, has been safely rescued and released into its natural habitat.
The reptile was discovered in the Rainabojhi waterfall, where locals noticed it struggling and alerted conservationist Bhojraj Dhungana. Acting swiftly, Dhungana rescued the young crocodile and released it into the Patharaiya River at the Dolphin Sanctuary in Baidi, Tikapur Municipality-7.
According to Dhungana, the rescued crocodile, about one and a half meters long, was born this year and is now out of danger after being returned to its habitat. The Patharaiya, Kadha, and Mohana rivers are home to both Magar and Gharial crocodiles, with their numbers reportedly on the rise as these rivers serve as natural breeding grounds.
