Dhangadhi: The Sudurpaschim provincial government celebrated Constitution Day with a special program held in Dhangadhi. Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the constitution.

Speaking at the program organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Chief Minister Shah emphasized that the government will prioritize building a corruption-free society while maintaining good governance, peace, stability, and development.

He reflected on the historical background of the constitution, noting that it was promulgated by the elected Constituent Assembly as the culmination of people’s struggles, movements, and sacrifices. Shah underscored that the constitution unites Nepal’s diverse society in a common thread and guarantees proportional and inclusive representation across all state bodies. He added that it provides the foundation for sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.

While acknowledging the constitution’s recognition as one of the world’s progressive charters, Chief Minister Shah remarked that its implementation has not been adequate. He linked the youth’s demands for corruption-free governance, equal opportunities, transparency, and accountability to the constitution’s core principles. Referring to the youth-led protests of Bhadra 23 and 24, he said they reflected the new generation’s passion, awakening, and desire for change.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of lives and property during the recent protests, Shah stressed that the incidents served as a reminder to review shortcomings and work more effectively toward the goals of good governance and prosperity. He highlighted the need to strengthen democratic practices with greater sensitivity, responsibility, and accountability.

The event was attended by Provincial Chief Nazir Mian, Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari, government ministers, Provincial Assembly members, and civil servants.
