Kanchanpur: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has announced that the foundation stone for the dry port to be constructed in Dodhara-Chandani will be laid during the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to India.

Speaking at a training organized by the Nepali Congress House of Representatives Constituency No. 3 Training Department in Dodhara-Chandani today, Minister Lekhak said that the prime ministers of both countries will jointly lay the foundation stone for what will be the largest dry port in Nepal. “The country’s largest dry port will be built in Dodhara-Chandani,” he said, adding, “There is a program for the prime ministers of both countries to lay the foundation stone jointly.” He noted that development in the area has accelerated in recent years.

Minister Lekhak highlighted that residents who once lived in constant fear of floods during monsoon clouds have now gained a sense of security following the construction of embankments on the Mahakali and Jogbudha rivers. “The country’s largest concrete bridge has been built on the Mahakali River, and hospitals and campuses have been established here,” he said. “The remaining embankments on the Jogbudha River will further protect citizens from floods, and a budget has already been allocated for this.”

He further stated that the Nepali Congress played a vital role in drafting the constitution and emphasized that the party must also safeguard it. Stressing the Congress’s responsibility in strengthening democratic governance, he added that the current government has introduced policy and legal reforms with strong support from civil servants.
