Dhangadhi: Senior orthopedic surgeon and social campaigner Dr. Govinda KC has demanded the government immediately operate full hospital services and educational programs at Geta Medical College in Kailali.

Announcing the start of a three-day Satyagraha from today, Dr. KC said his movement aims to ensure quality, free, and accessible health services for the Nepali people. “The government has neglected both health education and health services,” he said, adding that medical education would not improve until the sector is freed from the influence of political leaders and mafia groups.

He strongly criticized the delay in operationalizing Geta Medical College, calling it an affront to the people’s right to health. “Lakhs of citizens of Kailali and the Far West have been waiting for years. But due to political interests, Geta Medical College has not yet been fully operational,” he said.

Dr. KC also demanded the immediate cancellation of agreements with private medical colleges. Citing the Institute of Medicine under Tribhuvan University as an example, he said, “The tuition fee there is only Rs 385,000, but private colleges are forcing students to pay 50–60 lakhs. This is fraud.”

He warned that the movement would intensify in the coming days if the government fails to open full hospital services and educational programs at Geta immediately.
