Eight rescued as floodwaters inundate homes in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: Eight individuals trapped in their homes due to heavy rainfall in Dhangadhi have been successfully rescued.

According to police, four people from Beli village in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-7 and four others from Sri Lanka area in Ward No. 13 were rescued after their houses were submerged. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Singh, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said that the one-story mud house of Sitaram Rana in Beli was inundated, prompting the relocation of his family to a nearby relative's home. Similarly, the family of Bhagiram Chaudhary from Sri Lanka in Dhangadhi-13 was rescued and moved to the local Navajyoti Basic School.

The District Administration Office, Kailali, reported that floodwaters have entered approximately 1,000 houses across various wards of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City. Information Officer Shivraj Joshi stated that Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 have been affected by the downpour. While around 1,000 households are currently flooded, no major damage has been reported.

Authorities have indicated that preparations are underway as the risk of further impact remains high if the heavy rain persists through Monday evening.
