Locals plant paddy at incomplete bus park in Baitadi as protest

Baitadi: The long-delayed construction of the Patan Bus Park in Baitadi has drawn renewed public attention after locals planted paddy at the site on National Paddy Day (Asad 15) to protest the decade-long delay.
The symbolic act of plowing and planting was carried out to pressure the authorities, as construction work initiated in fiscal year 2071/72 remains incomplete. The protest was organized by the local community, with Patan Market Management Committee Chairman Khemraj Bhatta stating that peaceful protest was necessary to highlight the inaction despite repeated requests.
Local businessman Krishna Singh Bhat said that the incomplete bus park has caused daily inconvenience. With no designated parking space, vehicles have spilled into the market area, creating traffic chaos.
Originally launched under the Patan New City Project with plans to accommodate eight buses and four jeeps, the bus park was part of the 10th model city initiative along the Central Hill Highway. However, the project has stalled for years, leading to growing public frustration.

Locals and business owners have called on the relevant stakeholders to resume and complete the construction work without further delay.
