Seti provincial hospital launches first infertility treatment center in Far West

Dhangadhi: Seti Provincial Hospital has inaugurated the first infertility treatment center in the Far West Province.
The center was officially launched on Friday by the hospital's Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. Hemraj Pandey. Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Pandey stated that the center was established with the support of both the federal and provincial governments.

Although preparations to open the center began last year, technical issues had delayed the launch. Dr. Pandey emphasized that the new facility will eliminate the need for childless couples in the Far West to travel to Kathmandu or India for infertility treatment, as they can now access services locally in Dhangadhi.
Dr. Khagendra Bhatta, Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the hospital, said the center has introduced basic-level Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) services. These services include fertility testing and counseling, semen analysis and preparation, and are designed to be affordable, accessible, and confidential.

Dr. Bhatta highlighted that this service marks a significant step forward for the region and has the potential to expand further. The hospital will provide infertility treatment in a package costing Rs. 7,500.

Globally, 10 to 15 percent of couples face infertility issues, while in Nepal, the rate is estimated at 13 to 15 percent. Doctors note that infertility affects both men and women.
