Baitadi police make public man accused of killing brother

Baitadi: Police have made public Karna Bahadur Bista, 42, who is accused of shooting and killing his younger brother in Baitadi.

Bista allegedly murdered Surendra Bista, 21, of Kalagaun, Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-8, on Falgun 17 at around 8:30 pm, over a financial dispute involving Rs. 40,000, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Makendra Kumar Mishra, Chief of the District Police Office, Baitadi.

Following an extensive search, police recovered the bag used by the accused on Falgun 25 in the Odhar area of Patharkhani, Dogadakedar-8. They also seized a loaded gun, bullets, mobile phones, SIM cards, and other materials linked to the murder from the same location on Tuesday.

After remaining on the run, Karna Bahadur Bista was arrested on February 23 from the Dattu checkpoint in Mahakali Municipality-9, Darchula, while attempting to flee to India.

The District Court has extended his remand for 10 days from February 23, and Baitadi police have confirmed that a detailed investigation is ongoing under manslaughter charges.
