Dhangadhi, Kailali– In a significant development for healthcare in the region, Geta Hospital in Kailali has commenced admitting patients for in-house treatment.

The hospital, which had been offering only Outpatient Department (OPD) services until now, began providing indoor services from Friday. According to Nainsingh Karki, the hospital’s information officer, the initiation of these indoor services allows for the admission and treatment of patients who visit the OPD. Separate male and female wards have been established to accommodate the patients.

Along with inpatient care, the hospital has also introduced a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including physiotherapy, ultrasound, endoscopy, echocardiography, and comprehensive laboratory services. Notably, Geta Hospital is set to introduce breast cancer treatment for the first time in the province. The hospital will launch mammography services for breast cancer diagnosis starting in August, using state-of-the-art equipment.

Karki mentioned that preparations are already underway for providing these expanded services, including the new mammography facilities. The hospital has also submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health and Population to expand its capacity to 300 beds.

The ministry’s approval is awaited, and once received, the hospital plans to begin operations with the expanded bed capacity. Under the leadership of Federal Health and Population Minister Pradip Poudel, the hospital has already started admitting patients.

Additionally, the facility will offer 24-hour laboratory and pharmacy services, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care around the clock. The expansion of services at Geta Hospital marks a crucial step forward in enhancing healthcare access for the people of Kailali and surrounding areas.
