Tension Erupts at Nova Hospital in Kailali Following Teenager's Death
Dhangadhi – Tension has gripped the Nova Hospital complex in Kailali after the death of 17-year-old Nasiv Chaudhary from Belauri-2, Kanchanpur. Nasiv, who was admitted to the hospital on 7th Shrawan for jaundice, passed away on Friday afternoon, sparking outrage among his relatives.
Relatives have accused the hospital of negligence, alleging that Nasiv's death could have been prevented with proper care. According to Nasiv's uncle, Ramakrishna Chaudhary, the family had repeatedly requested a referral to another medical facility, but the hospital neither provided adequate treatment nor facilitated a transfer.
This situation escalated tensions, leading to an attempt to vandalize the hospital. The hospital administration, however, denies any negligence, asserting that all necessary medical procedures were followed. Despite these claims, the situation became volatile, necessitating police intervention.
The District Police Office in Kailali reported that officers had to fire three rounds of tear gas to disperse the agitated crowd after they began pelting stones. The situation reportedly calmed after the tear gas was used, and the relatives of the deceased dispersed.
However, they continue to demand a thorough investigation into Nasiv's death, action against the allegedly negligent doctors, and compensation for the family. Nasiv's relatives stated that they were only advised to take him to Nepalgunj or Bareilly in India after his condition had severely deteriorated.
He died en route to Nepalgunj in an ambulance at 3:30 pm on Friday. The family has refused to claim his body, holding the hospital responsible for his death and demanding justice.
