Seven Arrested in Kanchanpur and Kailali for Evading Court Sentences
Dhangadhi In a coordinated effort, police from Kanchanpur and Kailali District Police Offices have apprehended seven individuals, including a young woman, a teenager, and five young men, who were evading court sentences.
The arrests were made on Sunday, targeting individuals listed as absconders by the District Courts of Kanchanpur and Kailali. These individuals were found guilty in various cases but had been on the run to avoid punishment. Among those arrested is Puran Rana, 40, of Godawari Municipality-9 in Kailali.
Rana had been fined NPR 26,530 in a forest-related case. Additionally, 23-year-old Bikas Jaishi of Belauri Municipality-3 in Kanchanpur, who was fined NPR 25,000 for taking another person’s test. Sima Timilsena, 22, of Punarwas Municipality-8, and an 18-year-old juvenile from Melekh Village-6 in Achham, were both fined NPR 25,000 for similar offenses, and were also captured. Krishna Bohra, 30, of Mellekh Rural Municipality-6, facing the same charge and fine, was detained as well.
In another case, the police arrested Netra Kami, 31, of Godawari Municipality-2, who had evaded a fine of NPR 1,000 for a banking offense. Lastly, Lokesh Shah, 25, of Bhimdatta Municipality-2, was apprehended after evading a sentence of four months and ten days imprisonment and a fine of NPR 2,000 for a drug-related offense in Kanchanpur.
The arrests underscore the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to enforce court orders and ensure that those convicted of crimes face their due sentences. These operations are part of a broader strategy to uphold the rule of law and maintain public order in the region.
