Election Commission Announces Change in Election Officers for 6 Provinces, Including Far West
Dhangadhi: The Election Commission has undertaken a significant reshuffle of Election Officers across six provinces, encompassing Far West, who were initially appointed on January 12 for the National Assembly elections.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Election Commission disclosed the modifications made to the roster of Election Officers. The revised appointments are as follows: Durga Prasad Dhungel for Koshi Province, Narayan Prasad Subedi for Madhesh Province, Mahendra Bahadur Karki for Bagmati Province, Keshav Prasad Bastola for Gandaki Province, Kripasur Karki for Lumbini Province, Bishnu Prasad Aryal for Karnali Province, and Om Prasad Aryal for Sudurpaschim Province.
However, an unexpected development unfolded when, in a meeting held on January 3rd, the Judicial Council appointed Dhungel, Subedi, Bastola, Karki, Aryal, and Aryal, who had previously been designated as election officers for Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces respectively, as judges of the High Court. Furthermore, Karki, initially appointed as the Election Officer for Bagmati Province, cited health problems as a hindrance to fulfilling the duties of the position.
Responding to these circumstances, the Commission promptly appointed new officials to the roles of Election Officers effective from Thursday. The updated appointments include Bishnu Prasad Gautam in Koshi, Chitra Bahadur Gurung in Madhesh, Shri Prasad Sanjel in Bagmati, Rishi Ram Acharya in Gandaki, Kul Prasad Pandey in Lumbini, Manoj Shrestha in Karnali, and Bishnu Prasad Awasthi in Far West. This administrative reshuffling aims to ensure the effective functioning of the electoral processes across the designated provinces.
