Doti: The KI Singh Highway, blocked since Monday night, has reopened following an agreement to compensate the family of a deceased youth.

Police Inspector Sandeep Shah of the District Police Office, Doti, confirmed that the highway resumed operation at 12 noon on Tuesday after the agreement was reached.

Relatives of the deceased had blocked the road in Dipayal-Silgadhi Municipality-1, protesting the death of 32-year-old Lokendra Saund of Sirkholi, Dipayal-Silgadhi Municipality-1. Saund, a pillion rider on a motorcycle (Sudurpaschim Province 03001 Pa 0668), was fatally injured on Saturday when a Bolero jeep, driven by Bharat Singh, struck the motorcycle on the Bhimdatta Highway in Shikhar Municipality-8.

The injured Saund succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Singh, the jeep driver, is currently in police custody. The road blockade was initiated by Saund's relatives, demanding justice and compensation for his death. Following negotiations, the agreement to compensate the family brought an end to the protest and allowed traffic to resume.
