SPA College Student Samuel Neupane Receives International Everest Climate Action Award for Environmental Leadership
Dhangadhi: Samuel Neupane, a student enrolled at SPA College Dhangadhi, has been honored with the prestigious International Everest Climate Action Award. Vice President Ramsahay Yadav presented the award to Samuel during the South Asian Climate Action Conference held in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The conference, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Youth Development Center and the National Youth Council, saw the participation of 69 individuals from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, with 24 representatives from Nepal. Among the participants, Samuel was one of the 20 recipients of this esteemed accolade.
Samuel was recognized for his outstanding efforts in spearheading the Green Clean Dhangadhi campaign, aimed at making Dhangadhi a clean, hygienic, and eco-friendly city. As a second-year undergraduate student at SPA College, he has devoted a decade to environmental protection and raising public awareness in Dhangadhi. Samuel serves as the director of Green Clean Dhangadhi, where he has implemented various initiatives such as tree planting, community sanitation programs, and the establishment of the "Ek Vidyalaya Ek Eco Club" in 17 different schools in Dhangadhi. These endeavors have contributed significantly to the preservation of the local environment.
In addition to his local efforts, Samuel has organized the nationwide "Dhangadhi Oratory Competition," which aims to promote environmental awareness among the general public. This competition has attracted participants from across Nepal, fostering a broader understanding of environmental issues on a national scale. Through his leadership, Green Clean Dhangadhi has successfully trained over 1,500 environmental volunteers in the region alone.
Samuel Neupane's recognition with the International Everest Climate Action Award serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment and impactful work in the field of environmental conservation.
