The individual in question, identified as 35-year-old Sandeep Gupta, hailing from Belauri Municipality-4 in the district, was apprehended on Sunday. The arrest took place in Belauri Municipality-9, Kunda, where Gupta was found in possession of customs evasion goods, including a T-shirt, baby panties, big panties, and a motorcycle. Gupta was apprehended by a collaborative effort of the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office in Dhangadhi and the Police Office in Belauri. Following his arrest, he, along with the confiscated goods, has been handed over to the customs office in Kailali for further legal proceedings.
The detention of the Indian national underscores the authorities' commitment to combating customs evasion and ensuring adherence to trade regulations. The seized goods will serve as crucial evidence in the pending prosecution against Gupta. The cooperation between law enforcement agencies on both sides of the border highlights the importance of cross-border collaboration in addressing illicit activities that undermine legitimate trade operations.
