Dhangadhi: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yog Bahadur Pal has been suspended following allegations of mistreating women police officers in Kanchanpur. The Ministry of Home Affairs took the decision to suspend SSP Pal on Friday in response to the ongoing investigation into the incident. The police headquarters had previously forwarded a letter to the ministry recommending Pal's suspension.

The investigation was launched after complaints were made against SSP Pal for misconduct towards female police personnel at the provincial police office in Mahendranagar. The allegations primarily revolved around the harassment of a female assistant constable within the workplace. Nepal Police spokesperson Kuwer Kadayat confirmed that Pal has been suspended for a period of six months as per the directive issued by the Home Ministry, which also called for a thorough investigation.

SSP Pal was summoned to the police headquarters for questioning following the assistant constable's complaint. The constable, who had obtained approval for home leave, lodged a report at the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office in Dhangadhi, detailing the incident of harassment she had experienced. Subsequently, Pal was brought to the headquarters for further investigation.

According to the complaint, the constable, after receiving leave approval and informing SSP Pal, was instructed to meet him at a designated location. The constable complied and went to the quarters where SSP Pal was residing. It is alleged that during their encounter, SSP Pal made inappropriate advances towards the constable, stating, "You seem interested in me, let's celebrate Good Friday today."

The suspension of SSP Pal reflects the commitment of the authorities to address misconduct within the police force and ensure the protection and dignity of female officers. The ongoing investigation will shed light on the matter, and appropriate actions will be taken based on its findings.
