Kanchanpur: Authorities in Kanchanpur have recently uncovered cases of customs evasion involving illicit goods. In the municipality of Belauri, Dumli, law enforcement personnel from the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office in Dhangadhi and the Area Police Office in Belauri jointly discovered and confiscated illegally imported coolers and Diu (a type of alcoholic beverage). The seized goods, valued at Rs. 24,000, were found to have been smuggled into the country, evading the proper customs procedures.

In another incident, the temporary police post in Bansah intercepted a consignment of illicit items at the intersection of Shuklafata Municipality-1, Bansah. The confiscated items included sugar, shampoo, salai (a traditional matchbox), and cosmetics. These goods, estimated to be worth Rs. 11,600, were discovered in an abandoned state and subsequently seized by the police.

The authorities are actively investigating these cases of customs evasion, aiming to identify the individuals responsible for the illegal importation and distribution of these goods. Such illicit activities not only undermine the integrity of the customs system but also have adverse effects on the local economy and public safety.
