Dhangadhi: The Government of India has taken on the responsibility of constructing a dry port in Kanchanpur. This decision comes as a result of an agreement reached between Nepal and India to establish a dry port in Dodhara-Chandni, located within the district.

During a visit to India by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, the construction of the dry port project was entrusted to India. A memorandum of understanding formalizing this agreement was exchanged between Madhukumar Marasini, Secretary of Commerce and Supply representing Nepal, and Naveen Srivastava, the Indian Ambassador to Nepal.

To ensure the successful implementation of the project, Nepal has conducted an environmental impact assessment for the proposed dry port, which is set to be situated in the Dodhara-Chandni area of Kanchanpur.

This initiative signifies a significant step in strengthening bilateral trade and connectivity between Nepal and India, as the construction of the dry port holds the potential to enhance logistical efficiency and facilitate smoother movement of goods between the two nations.
