Omprakash Awasthi released after apologizing

Dhangadhi: Omprakash Awasthi, an activist of Navy Sangh, who threatened to behead journalist Teksingh Dhami of Dhangadhi, has been released from custody. On Saturday evening, Awasthi was released from custody after apologizing for his mistake in a discussion with journalists including the state president of the Federation of Journalists, Yogesh Rawal, district president Himalaya Joshi and the leaders of the Navy Association, Manish Kunwar.

According to the district police office, Awasthi apologized in writing to Kailali Journalist Federation President Joshi and promised not to do any activities that would harm journalist Dhami. According to the District Police Office Awasthi was arrested on Friday.

Awasthi was re-incarcerated after a group of journalists reached the District Police Office under the leadership of journalists' federation and met SP Devendra Pal on Saturday morning. In the evening, the student leaders and journalists gathered for a discussion after the leaders including the president of the Navy Sangh, Kunwar, asked for a discussion saying that Awasthi had made a mistake and would not make such a mistake from now on.
