A 5-month-old dies due to malnutrition in Bajura

Bajura: A child has died due to malnutrition in Bajura.

The 5-month-old son of Ramita Nepali, a resident of Budhinanda Municipality 6 of the district, Janam Nepali, died of malnutrition at District Hospital Bajura, said Nirmala Sunar, coordinator of the nutrition program working at District Hospital Bajura. The child was admitted to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center at the hospital 9 days ago for treatment of malnutrition.

Sunar said that the child was severely malnourished and could not be saved because he was brought too late for treatment. A month and a half ago, he was placed in nutritional rehabilitation to treat malnutrition. After a week and a half of treatment, the health workers sent him home saying that his condition was normal. He was again brought for treatment after suffering from severe malnutrition.

Health workers said that they could not save the child as he was taken to the hospital in a serious condition.
