Kanchanpur: 32-year-old Poonam Nepali of Shuklaphanta Municipality-10 Jhalari Khalla Basti, who has been making a living by working as a laborer, has been confined to her home because she could not afford her medical expenses. A Nepalese got cancer due to failure to treat the wound on her left leg in time. Due to a lack of finances, she has not been able to get treatment. She has been living bearing the pain.

Poonam, a mother of two sons and a daughter, is not at home after her husband left her. "You can't make a living by working," she said. "The children are forced to starve, I am forced to live in pain because I can't afford treatment."

She said, "The children are forced to live with hunger." On the initiative of Shantidevi Dhami, president of Shuklaphanta Municipality city-level single women's group, the Nepalese have been taken to Mahakali Regional Hospital to have their wounds checked. Dhami said, "We found Nepali while walking on the street crying and took her to the hospital to have her wound checked," said Dhami.

Ward President Ayer said that since a proposal was submitted in the executive meeting to provide assistance to Nepali, the assistance will cover Rs 5,000. Poonam's condition is becoming very fragile as she is unable to raise money for treatment. Even though there are three levels of government in the country, there is a danger of Poonam's death without treatment, Dhami, the president of the group, said.

"We are pleading with donors to provide funds for Poonam's treatment," she said. Nepali's husband has been out of contact after the wound worsened and she developed cancer.
