DIG Ashok Singh hands in his resignation
Dhangadhi: DIG Ashok Singh of Sudurpaschim Province has resigned. Nepal Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Singh has resigned.
DIG Singh was accused of continuing his services despite reaching his retirement age, he went to the personnel administration branch of the police headquarters and resigned on Wednesday. Singh's citizenship and age in police seat rolls have been found to be fabricated. Singh, who entered the service as a police inspector on 5th Chait 2051, remained in the police service until 5th Chait 2081 when there was no citizenship dispute.
Among his successors, he was forced to resign after getting involved in a citizenship dispute when he was going to take over the leadership after Chait 11. Singh, who was a contender for promotion to Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police, was then in the race to become the future Inspector General. The current Inspector General (IGP) Dheeraj Pratap Singh, who entered service in Chait 2049, and all his senior officers will go on compulsory retirement from Chait 11 after completing 30 years of service.
Similarly, DIG Singh, who expected to be promoted to the AIG post, was accused of entering the police service by age fabrication. Singh's date of birth mentioned in the police roll is Paush 2025 where he is 16 years of age, In the citizenship issued on Paush 22, 2042, his age is 18.
Singh joined the service as a Police Inspector on 5th Chait, 2051. The citizenship was issued by the then Chief District Officer Devendra Bhakta Shrestha with a permanent address in Nigali Village Panchayat of Savik Seti Zone Kailali District. If the service period is maintained according to the age of citizenship, Singh would have gone on mandatory retirement on May 22, 2079, due to the age limit of SSP.
According to police regulations, the age limit for SSP is 55 years. But according to Citrol, he did not retire. He joined as Inspector on 5th Chait, 2051, and was then promoted to DSP, SP, and SSP on various dates. The promotion has been decided irrespective of age and citizenship.
Last time on Ashad 17, one and a half dozen SSPs including Singh were promoted to DIG. Singh joined the police service in Mangsir 2050 according to the open application. While fixing the citizenship age, it appears that his age exceeded 25 years on the date of application. This is more than the maximum age required to enter the service.
