Crops dry due to drought in Dadeldhura
Dhangadhi: Farmers of Dadeldhura are worried as the wheat crop is drying up due to continuous drought. Farmers are worried about starvation after the wheat crop planted in the field began drying up.
Devraj Bhatta, a farmer of Alital Rural Municipality-2, said that due to the lack of winter rain this year, the wheat crops have started drying up in Dadeldhura. Similarly, other farmers are also worried about starvation as the wheat crops planted in the fields have begun drying up.
In Dadeldhura, wheat has been cultivated in an area of 8,744 hectares. Ramchandra Bhatta, head of Krishi Gyan Kendra Dadeldhura, informed that only 1.5 metric tons per hectare of wheat were produced last year due to severe drought. According to Krishi Gyan Kendra, wheat productivity has decreased due to the drought last year similarly the production of the wheat crop may decrease due to the drought this year as well.
