146 drug users currently jailed in Kanchanpur

Dhangadhi: Along with drug sellers, the number of drug users has increased rapidly in Kanchanpur. According to police data, the number of drug users is increasing every year along with drug sellers. As 55 drug-related cases were registered in the district in the financial year 2076/77, this number was 141 in the financial year 2077/078.

Currently, this number has increased in the financial year 2078/79. According to police records, 152 drug cases were registered during that period. In Kanchanpur, 146 people are currently serving prison terms due to drug addiction. Only 65 people are currently in the custody of the district police and local police.

In an interaction program on drug control organized in Belauri, Kanchanpur on Sunday, Chief of Police of District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Shyam Singh Chaudhary said that drugs have gone beyond control. "Since there is a challenge to control and regulate drugs in the district, it can be achieved only through the efforts of the police and necessary support from the locals," Chief Singh said.
