Shahi murder case in Achham: Tensions in district headquarters, 12 policemen and protesters injured
Dhangadhi: The district headquarters has become tense due to the protest demanding justice in the death case of Binod Shahi of Panchadewal Binayak-4 of Achham. Relatives and locals had reached the district headquarters Mangalsen for justice on Monday.
They staged a protest by throwing stones at the government prosecutor's office and the district court in Achham, saying that the government prosecutor's office had played a role in saving the accused. According to the District Police Office, Achham, more than 12 policemen were injured in the incident.
According to the police, 12 policemen including two police inspectors and a woman police officer have been seriously injured. Similar protesters were reportedly injured. After the dispute escalated, the police fired 12 tear gas shells to control the situation. The situation is now under control, police said.
Binod Shahi, who went missing on April 30, was found dead on May 1. The family had lodged a FIR against 13 people including Panchadeval Mayor Ambika Chalaune, outgoing chairperson of Ward No. 4 Sadan Bahadur Shahi and Danmati Bam Shahi. Seven people, including the mayor, have been arrested on the charge of being involved in the incident. Six of the accused are still absconding. Police have remanded seven people, including the mayor, in custody for two more days. The search for the rest is also underway.
