Dhangadhi: Far-Western MP Karna Bahadur Malla had announced his resignation on April 28. After being expelled from the party by the Nepali Congress, Malla had announced at a press conference in Dadeldhura that he was not a member of the state assembly.

However, Malla, as a member of the state assembly, has been receiving government services on a monthly basis. He is getting service facility as he has not resigned from the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.

Yubaraj Jaishi, information officer at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, said that they were providing services as per the law as a member of the Provincial Assembly as they had not received any information about Malla's resignation. The secretariat has been depositing the monthly salary allowance, hospitality and accommodation facilities in Malla's account.

A few days ago, Malla sent a letter of resignation to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat via email. He will be relieved of his post only after Speaker Arjun Bahadur Thapa reads the letter in the state assembly meeting.

In Dadeldhura, there has been a long-running dispute between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and the Malla faction. Recently, the Malla faction had boycotted the district convention of Dadeldhura saying that the Congress had unnecessarily distributed active membership. After the Malla group coordinated with the UML in the local level election, the Congress expelled Malla from the party and not even making him an ordinary member.
