Kailali-Kanchanpur community forest under investigation
Dhangadhi: An investigation has been started into the community forest of Kanchanpur-Kailali where scientific forest management has been implemented. The Office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has stated that it has started an investigation by mobilizing two teams in the Far-West.
The 1-1 team that reached Kanchanpur and Kailali on Monday has started on-site investigation since Tuesday morning, according to the Mahendranagar office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority. The authority has started investigation on the basis of a complaint lodged at the Commission's head office in Tangal alleging extreme financial irregularities and illegal logging in community forests where scientific forest management has been implemented.
A preliminary study by the Federal Parliamentary Sub-Committee also showed widespread economic irregularities in the community forests of Kanchanpur and Kailali districts where scientific forest management was implemented only last year.
