Manish Pratap of Dhangadhi is battling cancer, lack of funds for treatment
Dhangadhi: Manish Pratap Sen, 27, of Phulbari in Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan ward no. Manish Pratap, who arrived in Malta with the dream of realizing his family's happy future plan, had taken 13 loans from a bank by pledging his house and land. But the happiness of Manish Pratap who reached Europe did not last long. Less than two years after moving to Malta, an earthquake shook Manish Pratap and his family. Arriving in Malta, Manish Pratap was unable to work due to colon cancer without being able to pay off the debt incurred by his family. After that, his family called him to Kathmandu for treatment in his homeland. Manish Pratap has been admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital in New Delhi, India after his cancer was not cured after a year and a half of treatment at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital in Kathmandu. His uncle Purna Bahadur Poudel said that Rs 6.1 million has been spent for the treatment in Kathmandu for a year and a half. During the treatment, Manish Pratap's family has sold five katthas of land. At present, the family says that they are spending Rs 1.5 lakh a week for cancer treatment in Delhi. Although the doctor said that there is a possibility of recovery while undergoing treatment in Delhi, the family has stated that there is financial problem for the treatment.
Manish Pratap is the only child in a family of four. He was married to Pramila Karki only three years ago. The only son of his parents has been forced to look after the cancer. Surendra Pratap, 46, and Devi Pratap Sen are devastated by their son's health problems. Sunil Subedi, a neighbor, said that the family had to bear additional financial loss as the bus driver Surendra Pratap could not work due to his son's treatment. Manish Pratap Sen's rescue campaign has been launched under the leadership of Manish's uncle Purna Bahadur Poudel, local social workers Sunil Subedi, Namdev Gaire and Vikas Pun Magar. He said that he was appealing to the locals of Phulbari area for financial assistance.
Sunil Subedi said that Manish Pratap is a man he has taught and that he is ready to help him in times of need. Namdev Gare said that it is better to help when in the neighborhood.
