Far-Western government to give 4 additional public holidays this year
Dhangadhi: The Far-Western Government has made public the list of public holidays to be given in 2077 BS. As per the decision of the meeting of the Provincial Council of Ministers held on June 5, 2077 BS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law has already published the information related to public holidays in the Provincial Gazette.
Information Officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law Laxmi Prasad Joshi said that the decision to grant public leave in four festivals in 2077 BS has already been taken. "Information about the public holiday of 2077 BS has also been published in the state gazette," he said.
As per the decision of the state government, a public holiday has been observed in the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 3. Similarly, it has been decided to grant public leave to the Tharu community on August 23, 'Atbari Festival', on January 3 'Bhuva Festival' to be celebrated in Achham and Bajura districts and 'Khakhedera Festival' on April 5.
The state government has not given separate leave for Gaura and Maghe Sankranti and Maghi festivals. The state has not made a separate decision as the federal government has decided to give one day off on August 26 for Gaura festival and one day for Maghe Sankranti and Maghi festival.
The Tharu community has been demanding a three-day public holiday on the Maghi festival and the hill communities in the Far-West have been demanding a three-day public holiday on the Gaura festival.
The federal government has given leave on Gaura and Maghi along with Phagu Purnima, Eid, Chhath, Christmas Day and Udhauli. Similarly, Dashain leave has been given from 23 to 27 October and Tihar leave has been given from 14 to 16 November.
