Province 7- Department of Health Services demand budget to purchase ventilators

Province 7- Department of Health Services, Supply Management Branch has demanded a budget to purchase equipment needed to treat patients with the Coronavirus. The Supply Management Branch requests funds for the purchase of 15 ventilators and ICUs for the subordinate hospitals, cautioning against the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic in the province. Public health inspector and information officer Laxmi Shrestha said, “Preparations are underway to purchase the equipment needed to treat patients suffering from coronavirus infection. We have demanded the provincial government to sanction a budget to purchase 15 ventilators, 15 intensive treatment rooms (ICUs), 15 oxygen concentrators and cardiac monitors. Narendra Singh Karki, Chief of Health Department, Sudurpaschim Province Ministry of Social Development said, “The proposal for the budget has been sent to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning.” There are currently two ventilators at Seti Provincial Hospital and one ventilator at Mahakali Hospital and seven ventilators in private hospitals in Dhangadhi. So far, four people have been found infected with Coronavirus in Kailali and Kanchanpur.
