Nepal-India Movement Resumes at Gaddachauki Border as Mahakali Water Level Falls

Mahendranagar: Movement between Nepal and India via the Gaddachauki border point in western Kanchanpur has eased starting today.

The movement of four-wheeled vehicles across the Sharda Barrage (Banbasa Bridge) had been suspended for two days after the water flow in the Mahakali River exceeded 100,000 cusecs due to continuous rainfall.

Tek Bahadur Rawat, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, and Deputy Superintendent of Police, stated that the Banbasa Bridge is now fully operational following a drop in the Mahakali River’s water level this morning. According to the police, the current water flow is measured at 98,000 cusecs.

“Transport services—including passenger buses from Kathmandu and services to the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim—had been halted for four days and three days respectively due to the rain,” said Chairperson Bhatta. “With the improvement in weather, transport services have resumed today.”
