Father Arrested in Doti for Allegedly Raping Daughter, Case Revealed After She Became Pregnant

Dhangadhi: A case involving a 45-year-old father allegedly raping his 21-year-old daughter in Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality, Doti, has come to light after the daughter became pregnant.

The incident was revealed after the unmarried woman went to the hospital complaining of stomach pain. Her father had taken her to the hospital for treatment. Following her medical examination and further questioning, the doctor learned that she was pregnant and informed the police.

According to the District Police Office, Doti, police separately questioned and investigated the woman and her father after he took her to the district hospital. During the investigation, allegations that the father had been sexually abusing his daughter for several years came to light.

Police said their preliminary investigation found that the alleged abuse had been occurring for around three to four years. The father was arrested after the daughter filed a rape complaint against him.

The accused is currently in the custody of the District Police Office, Doti, while the woman has been kept in a safe house for her protection, according to police.

It has also been revealed that the accused's wife was living with the family at the time of the alleged incidents. She reached the District Police Office after her husband was arrested and, according to police, expressed anger over his actions.

According to Doti Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Rana Bahadur Chand, a rape case has been registered against the arrested man and further investigation is underway.

The incident highlights the need for greater sensitivity from society and concerned agencies toward sexual violence within families and serious crimes that remain hidden for extended periods.
