Drug trafficking control becomes a challenge in Kanchanpur

Mahendranagar: Kanchanpur Police has increased its activity in controlling the growing drug problem in society and implementing the verdicts.

The police have increased their activity in arresting people involved in drug trafficking and dealing and in arresting absconding accused who have been sentenced to imprisonment and fines by the court.

According to the District Police Office, 20 women and 389 men have been arrested in drug-related cases in the fiscal year 2082/083.

“In the past year, 231 drug-related cases were registered.” Deputy Superintendent of Police Tek Bahadur Rawat, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said, “People are being arrested with drugs almost every day. We have taken action and awareness.”

He said that it is clear from the number of actions that the number of drug users in Kanchanpur Kailali is increasing.

“The main challenge for the police right now is to control drugs.” Rawat said, “More than 35 percent of the people in prison are also involved in drug cases.”

Since drug control is not possible with the initiative of the police and local administration alone, all citizens of society and the local government are serious about the police.

In the last fiscal year 2082/83, Kanchanpur police had seized 658 grams of brown heroin, 6.5 kilograms of hashish, 526 grams of marijuana, and 726 tablets. During the same period, the district police have arrested 562 absconding accused from across the district in the course of implementing the verdict. The police say that the arrested accused have been sent to prison through the court to serve their prison sentences. The Rs. 24.5 million that was to be recovered as fines has been recovered.
