19 injured, three critical in force vehicle accident in Surkhet

Surkhet: Nineteen people have been injured, three of them critically, in a force vehicle accident in Surkhet, police said.

The force vehicle (Karnali Province 02-001 Kha 0490) traveling from Simta to Gumi lost control and overturned along the road section at Seraghari in Gurbhakot Municipality-13.

According to police, there were 20 people, including the driver, in the vehicle driven by 43-year-old Gagan Thapa, a resident of Gurbhakot Municipality-13. The driver was unharmed, while the remaining 19 occupants sustained injuries.

Among the injured, Ganesh Wali, 5-year-old Riyaz Shahi and Bhavana Rai are in critical condition. Police stated that the condition of the others ranges from normal to moderate.

Udayaram Bhujel (42) – Head and back injury, moderate condition
Dhanmaya Bhujel (45) – External injury not visible, moderate condition
Tika Khatri (32) – Right hand injury, normal condition
Bhim Bahadur Thapa (60) – Left hand injury, moderate condition
Tulsara Sunar (55) – Right hand and back injury, moderate condition
Saksham Budha (12) – Head and leg injuries, moderate condition
Preeti Gurung (15) – Head injuries, normal condition
Shanta Khatri (30) – Injuries to various parts of the body, moderate condition
Bhavana Ale (17) – Hand injuries, normal condition
Manisha Thapa (30) – Neck and right hand injuries, moderate condition

The injured are receiving treatment at Karnali Provincial Hospital Kalagaun, Karnali Care Hospital, Maya Hospital and Mehelkuna Hospital.

Police said the accident vehicle remains at the site, while the driver has been taken into custody. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
