Dadeldhura administration issues alert as heavy rainfall forecast until Sunday night

Dhangadhi: The District Administration Office in Dadeldhura has urged residents to remain cautious as heavy rainfall is likely to continue until Sunday night. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has also called for high alert across the country, warning of possible intense rainfall in various regions.

According to information issued by the Authority, based on forecasts from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. Rainfall is also expected in mountainous and hilly areas nationwide, in many places across the Terai of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some locations of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

The Authority has warned that continuous rainfall could increase the risk of flash floods, landslides, inundation, erosion and urban flooding, urging the public to take necessary precautions. It has advised people to avoid nighttime travel except for essential purposes, particularly in districts identified as high-risk.

Security agencies, local governments and volunteers have been directed to remain prepared for emergency response. Equipment such as dozers, excavators and loaders have been instructed to be kept ready along vulnerable highways, and authorities have been advised to relocate residents from high-risk settlements if necessary.

Residents living near landslide-prone areas, rivers and streams have been urged to remain especially vigilant and to regularly follow updated weather information.
